Our owner Paul Lawrence started on the ground, in the most literal sense of the term. First learning the ins and outs of tree work and then learning to climb. Thanks to the careful mentorship of his employer, Paul learnt the ropes quickly. He soon saw a market for tree work in the leafy Northern and Western Suburbs of Brisbane. Paul aptly named his new company, Ashgrove Tree Services.
That was in 1998, since then, our Ashgrove Tree Services team has provided Brisbane suburbs unparalleled arboricultural expertise and professionalism. The company has grown vastly since its humble beginnings. Subsequently, we are proud to boast that many returning customers have been engaging our services for over 25 years. Why? Q. What tree services do Ashgrove Tree Services provide?

Q. How safe is tree removal, pruning and felling?

The team at ATS provide professional, efficient and safe tree services to homes and businesses in North and West Brisbane.
Q. What tools and equipment do you use?
Every job is different and requires a different set of tools, techniques and skills. We use a complex array of harnesses, ropes, pulleys and tackles to safely remove any part of any tree. With the removal undertaken using a combination of chainsaws, hand-saws, pole-saws and loppers. We remove material using a truck and chipper. Larger jobs require cranes and lorries to safely bring down and transport large trees, this can become quite a spectacle!
Q. How expensive is it to remove a tree?
We realise that cost is an important consideration. Ashgrove Tree Services offers a premium arboricultural service. We are fully insured and our crew are well paid. We leave site as clean and tidy as possible, working to minimise the impact of tree work on your property. Therefore, tree removal can be a pricey exercise. However, we offer free and transparent quotes, so you know exactly how much each portion of the job will cost. We also offer discounted services for smaller jobs and client flexibility therefore catering to a range of needs.
Q. What is stump grinding?
Tree removal is an above-ground process. Most trees have an extensive underground network of roots which is impossible to fully reach. Therefore, to provide you with the opportunity to regenerate the area, we recommend stump grinding. This involves specialised machinery that grinds the stump down. Hence allowing you to pave, plant, concrete or build over the top of it. We have a long-standing relationship with a local operator Just Stumpgrinding. However, you don’t need to concern yourself with organising this. Simply speak to our estimator and we will do the rest.
Q. Are there any trees that you cannot remove?
Over the last 25 years we have worked with some of Brisbane’s largest and most troublesome trees. Certain trees need council approval to remove, this is indicated by a VPO overlay on council websites. This can easily be checked, alternatively speak to our staff if you think the tree may be protected. Additionally, there may be certain trees that cannot be worked on due to safety concerns. Q. What other things do I need to consider before removing a tree?
Certain trees are protected because of the surrounding wildlife. Other trees require council permits to make any changes – including pruning more than 10% of the foliage.

Q. Do you need to be onsite to provide a quote?
We are able to provide over-the-phone quotes for some of our stump grinding and pruning services. For all other jobs, however, we need to be onsite to be able to factor in all of the aspects of removing or reshaping a tree.
